Course Information
The course is set entirely inside Centennial Park (the Scenic Reserve), Timaru. Access is from Otipua Road via Quarry Road or down the zig zag at the end of Church St. You cannot enter from the Claremont Road end as the Centennial Park Road will be closed from 10am.
It is approximately 8.5km of MTB single track and shingle walkways created by Mountain Bike Enthusiasts and volunteers from the South Canterbury Mountainbike Club and PD workers. The course is undulating. Riding towards the West is the up hill direction, and for the most part riding towards the East is downhill. The course has a few short sharp climbs and downhills, but is not overly technical (hey even I can do it!). It is fast and challenging, perfect for longer races and suitable for all levels of mountain bikers.
An average rider in good conditions will take around 30 minutes to ride one lap.
Lights will be required from about 8.30pm to midnight.
All laps will be timed with a special prize for the Fastest Lap. You can work out your own strategy to get the best time.
The camp site/tent city is in the grassed area next to the Lake in the centre of the Park. Rider transition will be at your camp site in tent city.
